Female Impotency Issues Being Addressed
Lately more issues pertaining to female impotency and sexual dysfunction are being addressed. This is done by encouraging women to talk more about their sexual problems.
It is reported lately that sexual dysfunction (i.e. female impotency) is no less common of a problem than for males. It is a condition that is recognized by the medical community though it seems not to be talked about as much as male impotency and erectile dysfunction.
The main difference between men and women regarding impotency is that for women it could occur at any age. Or rather, that age is not as much of a factor for women than it would be for men, though can sometimes get it at any age.
Explanation of Condition
For women the main cause of impotency (a.k.a. female sexual dysfunction) would be hormonal fluctuations. This usually occurs during pregnancy or during menopause. It also could occur if a woman is severely depressed, such a maybe after post partum depression starts.
It could also be a secondary result of taking a certain medication. It also could be the cause of another health problem such as a cardiovascular disorder. It could also be the result of a cancer treatment, or even diabetes although these are most often causes attributed to men.
Symptoms of sexual dysfunction/female impotency include the following:
- Pain during intercourse
- Extremely low or no sex drive
- Inability to have an orgasm
- Inability to stay aroused during sexual activity
- Inability to become aroused when stimulated
- Desire to have sex but no arousal
Diagnosis
It seems that diagnosis for women is challenging. The reason why is that every case is is so individualized. Because of that, not as much is known about how to treat female impotency as would be for treating this condition in men.
Diagnosis is not easy because there is more than one condition that is related to women that could result. One of the female sexual disorders is called Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD).
This is a condition that is characterized by a distressing loss of sexual drive. HSDD interferes very much with a woman’s daily life. Another similar one is Female Sexual Arousal Disorder (FSAD) and sometimes these terms may be used interchangeably.
By the way, for women impotency or sexual dysfunction issues may be only temporary. This is also true sometimes of men. That is one reason why treatment for such a condition is so individualized no matter if you are a female or a male.
