The Link between Impotency and Heart Attacks
According to a BBC News report printed in March of 2010, there is a strong link between impotence and heart attacks. This is particularly true for men who already were diagnosed of having cardiovascular disease.
The Risk
Men who are both impotent and have cardiovascular disease are twice at risk than the average man of getting a heart attack. They are also twice as much at risk of dying.
The Research
According to a University of Saarland report, since there has been so much evidence liking impotence to cardiovascular disease men affect men should be tested. Anyone who has had some type of sexual dysfunction problem should be check out for cardiovascular disease.
The Cause
The reason why men who are impotent as well as affected by cardiovascular disease are more prone to heart attacks is because impotency is linked to inadequate blood flow. The amount of blood required for an erection is not sufficient because the blood does not circulate into the penile arteries.
The Conclusion
Poor circulation is the reason why men who fail to get an erection on a regular basis are urged to get help. This is a sign that his arteries are narrowing. Thus, there is a sign of increased risk of a heart attack.
More Statistics
Men who struggle with impotency are more than just twice as likely to get a heart attack. They are also 10% more likely to get a stroke and 20% more likely to be hospitalized for heart failure (after adjusting age and smoking factors).
Treatment Advice and Warnings
Men who are using some type of medication or herbal solution to treat impotence should be checked immediately as well. Just because they are being treated for erectile dysfunction does not mean they are also not at risk for a heart attack.
Many men are treating the impotency but the underlying cause is not being addressed. It needs to be addressed as soon as possible or a man could put himself at risk. Therefore, a man needs to still get a regular checkup regardless if he is using a drug to treat his erectile dysfunction or other sexual problem or not.
