Viagra for Female Impotency

Up until now Viagra was used primarily by men. It was made for men and occasionally it was used by women, but mostly it was a man who was using it.

New reports indicate that a new form of this drug is available to women now. Yet, it is now being made with a special substance that is designed specifically for females.

It is the Pfizer Company that currently holds the patient for Viagra that has made this discovery. A recent study was done and here is a very brief summary of the report.

About the Research

The complete report of the testing phase of this drug can be found in the British Journal of Pharmacology. However, here is a very watered-down version.

Basically, the clinical trial consisted of a novel prototype drug. This helped medical experts understand the way a woman is sexual aroused.

One test was done using electrical stimulation of the pelvic nerves. This action has increased blood flow into the genitalia. The same effect occurred when a prototype drug was used (UK-414,495).

The mechanisms of action are believed so far to be as follows:

First, a woman is aroused. Then, the flow increases into the Vagina, labia, and clitoris. Then, a woman’s sexual organ starts to swell and the vagina is more relaxed. In the process vaginal lubrication increased and the genitals become more sensitive to touch.

About the Patients

The release of a new Viagra female impotency drug could help up to 40 % of women. This is how many women are affected by Female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD).

This is a condition that occurs in women regardless of age. Just like some men who struggle with impotency, a woman with FSAD does not respond to sexual stimulation or touch.

The objective of treating female patients is similar to that of treating male patients. They want to have a happier, healthier, sex life and they want to be able to feel more confident. This increased confident then would transpire into new relationships.

Further Advice

It is wise for all female patients struggling with impotency problems to seek a checkup right away. This is because sexual dysfunction could be a sign of a worse health condition such as poor circulation or cardiovascular disease.

A woman should not even receive impotency treatment of any kind without first seeking doctor’s advice. This will ensure her total safety while being treated.
